Founding: Albina Institute of Space and Astronautical Science

Soviet astrophysicist Albina Lukiiniushna Eisenshtéina, removed from the USSR space programme, establishes the Альбина Институт Космических Наук «БЕЛКОСМОС» together with a small group of colleagues. The Institute comprises an astrophysics laboratory and an aerospace-engineering laboratory.

1960s–1980s

Expansion and Reorientation

Over decades, the Institute undergoes successive redirections driven by the interests of its members. Research into mystical science — spiritual entities, extrasensory perception, and parallel worlds — gradually becomes the dominant focus. The two founding laboratories are merged. The name is anglicised to Al'bina Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (AISAS).

1991

Dissolution of the Soviet Union — AISAS enters dormancy

The death of Albina Eisenshtéina and the concurrent collapse of the USSR leave AISAS effectively dissolved.

Re-establishment in Japan

Saika Tagami (later: Saika Shiodome), working under the name of Albina Eisenshtéina and in continuity with the original Institute, submits the paper "Plasma Hypothesis of Spiritual Entities" in archaic Russian — reviving the Institute's scholarly tradition. AISAS is formally re-established in Japan.

Revelation of Erflett

The fictional spacetime world Erflett — described as "a region folded inside the fabric of spacetime" — is first articulated by the Director. AISAS begins systematic research into Erflett's physics, geography, biology, and cultures.

Name Change: AISAS → AISU

At the General Staff Meeting, the English name is amended from Al'bina Institute of Space and Astronautical Science to Al'bina Institute for Space and Universal Studies (AISU) to avoid confusion with JAXA's Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS). The Russian name becomes Институт Вселенского Учения «Альбина». The nickname Belkosmos is retained.
