Erflett’s unit conversion utility, «Erflett-UC», has been released

Discussions began in June 2017, and in November 2024 work commenced on systematising the Erflett International System of Units, the «KÊT system». Additionally, the FL method—devised from 2025 onwards—and «Erflett-UC», a conversion utility for the Erflett system of units including units of measurement, have now been introduced. This is because the units within the main Erflett system were finalised by February 2026.

The utility «Erflett Units Converter» (Erflett-UC) which converts between the units of these Erflett systems and those of the Earth’s system, has now been developed for the first time.

Erflett Units

Erflett is a fictional world in which our institute conducts its research, a world in which a civilisation distinct from that of Earth has developed. Consequently, its system of units naturally differs from that of Earth. Discussions regarding the units of Erflett have been ongoing since June 2017.

Whilst Earth’s civilisation utilises the International System of Units, known as the SI system, the equivalent international system for Erflett began to be systematised in November 2024 and was finalised in February 2026. This system of units is known in the Fulika language as «Katafeusta Ênnasvą́tokosty a Teuþolav» (KÊT system).

Just as the real world has systems such as the imperial system alongside the metric system, Erflett also has several unit systems other than the KÊT system. Among these, the unit system used on Avaflur coins — the ancient Erflett currency — was widely used in the eastern Erflett nations. This system is known as «Fháta-Lavéta Ênnasvątokosty» (FL system, or FL method). In addition to this, there are other «measurement units» used for weighing gemstones, measuring wine bottles, and so on.

In this update, Erflett-UC has implemented conversion functions for the units within each of these three systems.

What is Erflett-UC?

The conversion utility released on this occasion, Erflett Units Converter (Erflett-UC), unlike Erflett-SC which was announced on the same day

was not based on any pre-existing tool developed by an individual. Consequently, Erflett-UC was developed directly by the team at our institute’s Imaginary World Laboratory, based on the finalisation of the various Erflett unit systems.

As previously mentioned, this utility allows units from three different systems—the KÊT system (equivalent to Earth’s SI system), units of measurement for gemstones and similar items, and the FL system (equivalent to Earth’s imperial system) — to be converted into units of the Earth’s system. These unit systems are defined according to Erflett’s own definitions, based on physical constants expressed using Erflett’s unique notation; as a result, when converted to Earth’s units, the results are often not rational numbers, and conversions are generally performed using approximate values.
