Project TERRA
Project TERRA is AISU's research and development programme for the environmental modification of extraterrestrial bodies — commonly known as terraforming. The project investigates the theoretical and technical requirements for transforming planets such as Mars and Venus into environments capable of supporting Earth-type biospheres.
Background
As human space exploration advances, the long-term habitability of other worlds becomes an increasingly concrete research objective. Project TERRA approaches this problem through ecological engineering, synthetic biology, and planetary atmospheric science.
Activities
- Research into environmental modification technologies for Mars, Venus, and other planetary bodies
- Study of biosphere construction through ecological engineering
- Development of plant and microbial transplantation and cultivation technologies for extraterrestrial environments
- Research into artificial biome construction
